I disagree with ogra the gob. I think ankhs have many different meanings, and it's up to the invidual to interprate this symbol however they want. Personally I would love to have ankh tattooed on my body, and its not because i am obscure or trying to be "spiritual without being christian". Its something entirely different and personal to me. So Fuck off!

sweetheart, it really wasn't a forum discussion, I do not recall asking for theology opinions from the unwashed interwebz keyboard warriors, and it really is irrelavent what you think or what it means to you. FACT- it is rooted in a very SPECIFIC culture and ancient faith, and does have a very specific meaning in its culture of origin (you have the internet and can't even figure out wikipedia?). Of course it has different meanings to everyone, but in this case is was contextual to the person and TIME PERIOD in which ankhs were a very generic and common tattoo. In this case, I SPOKE to her directly, so disagreement would really only be founded if you knew both her and I, and were there for the conversation and the tattoo. You weren't, so in the most polite way I can respond to your indelicate and misinformed post, please pull your head out of your ass and realize that nobody on the internet or in real life gives a fuck what an ankh means to you. But hey, way to scope other people's tattoos for ideas instead of coming up with something original for yourself. I happen to think that men with ankhs that are not Egyptian in origin or practitioners of the several faiths that now use the ankh as their symbol are ignorant pussies that probably look all day online for a forum post that they have to disagree with, and pretend that someone gives a shit about their opinion. ankhs have become so common, especially in what female clients want. ooh, i am obscure, oooh, i am spiritual-without-being-christian-so-i-put-religious-symbols-i-don't-understand-on-myself. i even explained this to her, and in the end, she still didn't have a clue and i really wanted to put this on someone.
