Tao really has such beautiful, golden skin, and it’s too bad he’s often so whitewashed when photos are edited. I feel like it’s a little more okay to lighten him in fanart, because… artistic licence or something like that, but I feel like I’ve done this a little too often in the past, so I wanted to do a piece where his skin is really emphasised.(Inspired by Charlie Bowater’s Stay Gold )

Just look at this golden boy. Honey blond hair and skin alike. I love it. I wish they'd leave his skin be, just smoothing out whatever blemishes for shoots. Leave this golden Adonis child be. (Honey really suits him, the more I think of it. If I keep thinking, I'll eventually get to the question of how to clean honey from his body, because it's sweet and sticky and yeah... orz)

I am so in love with these accounts that have unedited photos. It's dumb [but fascinating] how pale society prefers to see people, but it goes in waves. Tan skin used to be seen as healthier, because you were out and in the sun and doing stuff. Flawed logic, but it was still seen as pretty and ideal. Pale skin was the sign of royalty, and darker skin was the sign of working class. Healthy or not, it could be dirt or something. :/ More flawed logic. Regional differences became influenced by one another. I just think everyone's too pretty to alter. Media should enhance, not alter, because there will always be someone who resembles the person they're altering to fit society majority's ideal.

I'm learning about asian cultures and their standards of beauty, namely pale skin, in my Indonesian studies class right now, and yeah it's really facinating how views fluctuate? In this day and age though it's SO stupid to base beauty standards off old shit like being seen as royalty, or as a peasant, because we're all so much more educated now and we should know better i guess?

I have had that happen. On the school bus, going home, there was a hornet on the window where I was sitting. A kid behind me smacked it, and it fell. I climbed on top of the kid next to me, because I am allergic to all insect stings/bites, but I thought it was okay-ish, since it was dead, but as I started to sit down, it uncurled from its death pose and stung my butt. I had to wait until my stop to go crying to my mom. It was awful. I hated that kid who killed the hornet.
You'd think we'd all know better, but we don't. Or we know better, but those age-old prejudices are handed down through the generations and supported by media.
I don't really have an opinion until I see Zitao's own statement, but I will call him a dumbass for not taking the opportunity to rest and heal. He could make appearances and still sing, but the physical performance should have been on hold long before now. Part of that is definitely the company, which is known for its lack of compassion, but quite a few companies are, from what I've heard. These kids are walking money catchers, after all, but happy cows make more milk. Zitao's body will be destroyed beyond repair unless he is allowed time to heal. If he has to terminate his contract, then more power to him.
