It was Faust who gave Celestia Spike's egg, because after many years of sadness after banishing Luna to the moon for a thousand years, Faust wanted Celestia to be happy. Master Eon gave Faust the egg and went back to Equestria. She set the egg right next to her daughter as she slept, but she went back to Skylands for something else and got captured by Kaos.
