Description Fancy Feathers - Part 3
Recently, I've been lucky enough to come across some more excellent wildlife and bird photographers here on DA, including somp, Eruanna17, Maria-Schreuders, DebasishPhotos, fotoponono, Lionessrules, Placi1, DPasschier, and several others all of whose work I have been collecting in my Bird Folder ==> https://okavanga.deviantart.com/favourites/43034579/Birds. Many of these have work featured in the excellent Group AnimalsPlantsNature, a Group that is rapidly becoming one of the best on DA for its wildlife collections. Go Visit and better Go Join! All this activity has prompted me to look again at the shots from my recent trip to Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa, from which I have posted already two birdie features  Fancy Feathers - Part 1 and

We have a tufted titmouse that looks a lot like this fellow. They visit our bird feeder every day.

Different species, but probably filling the same evolutionary niche, Bob.

Many Thanks

What a lovely, exotic looking shot, David! !!     Birds have always amazed me with their nest building abilities.   Honestly, I couldn't do it with two hands, let along a beak....And some of these nests,... how perfectly rounded they are; or having other amazing construction, such as a roof.   They fascinate me! !

I've got a soft spot for these bulbuls; somehow they seem slightly sad to me, but they are a nice photographic challenge.

Many Thanks, Linda

I hadn't viewed them in that way initially....perhaps the flash of yellow feathers, first cancelled that impression out (yellow being a happy color)  But now, looking again, I do see what you mean.  It's in the face, the eyes in particular, coupled with the gray feathers,... I think,...which creates that impression.

Agreed, Steven, lovely pretty bird. Quite common, but a challenge nevertheless to capture.

As I say in the Feature, these fellows are often overlooked or dismissed by local folk as they are so common, but really they are quite fascinating.

Many Thanks

The exuberant aloe flowers works very well with the little bird.

Good point about the aloes (lots of different types in SA), Mayumi. They are a major source of food for small birds.

Cheers
