Some Birds of South Africa Part 4On my recent vacation in KwaZulu Natal, one of the main provinces of the Republic of South Africa, I encountered some 50 different species of wild birds while travelling around  three main areas: Montusi Mountain Lodge in the northern Drakensbergs www.montusi.co.za/ ;  Moorcroft Manor at Himeville in the southern Drakensbergs www.moorcroft.co.za/; and around Rhino Ridge Lodge www.rhinoridge.co.za/ in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Game Reserve in central KwaZulu Natal hluhluwegamereserve.com/.

Wow, now This, is a stunner! !!   A truly gorgeous creature!  … I believe I recall seeing the nests (that you've described herein this journal) of these birds in a journal from one of your past trips to Africa.   It's always fascinated me, (any bird), at their ability to construct nests. (and with no hands! ! lol  )

I managed to capture this one in the early morning with direct sunlight on him, Linda. Very vivid yellow plumage. The nest building is purely instinctive, with different species building different shaped nests.

Many Thanks

Of the two, I like this one best. The birds plumage just shows strikingly here.

Thank you, Steven. Weavers are very active birds and I was lucky to capture some sitting still for a few seconds. Incredibly intense yellow.
