OrrolandA few minutes drive from our new home in Dumfries and Galloway is the country estate of Orroland. This area has a very long history dating back to the beginnings of the very famous Dundrennan Abbey https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/dundrennan-abbey/ - a 12th century abbey for Cistercian monks. Nowadays the grounds of Orroland are very much reduced in size and the principal businesses of the estate are farming and the letting of holiday cottages. Mostly, the estate is not open to the public (a pity) but recently the grounds were opened for an afternoon to display the gardens. Here are some photographs of the same.
