Description Curiously, this dramatic stand of trees is to be found on a typical suburban street with houses all around, yet barely noticed, I bet, by the inhabitants.

In summary, I was pointing out that in order to develop creative works you must, as a photographer, acquire skills that involve not only the control of your camera and lenses, but also knowledge and control of software to process images. The idea of being able to "see" the finished image while taking the photograph, as often stressed in photography manuals, is one of the keys to creative work, but that "seeing" must now include all the possibilities afforded by software from basic processing using the Gimp or Photoshop or Lightroom to more sophisticated processing provided by such software as the Nik Suite (Silver Efex Pro 2, Viveza, Color Efex Pro 4 and others), GMIC, and, say, Topaz Textures. Many thanks, Steven. Shows that you don't have to go down dirt tracks in the wilds of the States to find strange and disturbing stands of trees. Sometimes, people don't recognise what is on their doorstep.
