Description "One-two! One-two," shouted the always loud combat instructor, Hayne. He was trying his hardest to keep us trainees running in line and in the same rhythm.

My long, silky black hair was pulled up into a bun to keep it out of the way. In the bright afternoon sunlight, my purple eyes sparkled. Sweat beaded on my forehead and cheeks, as well as soaked my back, neck, and armpits. It wasn't too hot, but all of this running takes a lot out of you.

"Keep it moving! You're almost done!" Hayne continued his blabbering.

All I was doing was trying to keep pace with myself so I wouldn't wear out so fast.

"All right, trainees! You're done running. Good job. We'll start using weights soon at this rate." Everyone groaned at the mention of weights. "Take a break to get a drink and catch your breath, then pick up a practice staff and practice your different swinging angles."

As we all sat down and got drinks of water, Andrew, with his beautiful, shaggy brown hair, and his glorious hazel eyes, came over and sat beside me. He was sweatier and breathing harder than I was. "Stupid Hayne, making us run like this." He took a big, long drink of ice cold water.

"I honestly hate it as much as you do, if not more, but it'll help us. This I know for a fact."

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

"We're slowly but surely getting better at it every day." I took a few drinks of my water. The feel of the cold water rushing down my burning and dry throat felt heavenly. It brought new energy to my aching limbs. "So, I see you're doing well. You look sleep deprived, though. Have you been getting enough sleep? I haven't been waking you up at night, have I?"

"No, it's nothing like that. I've just been having nightmares about the bandits' attack on our village."

"I'm terribly sorry to hear that. You know, if you need someone to talk to, I'll always be here for you."
