Description ... Well what do you know, I finished it!

Art trade for -requested drawing the Straw Hats in the 1920's-30's period, which is, like, my favourite period of history for art influence Jazz, gambling, art deco, fashion that still holds its own today, car chases, moody atmospheric bars, not to mention the fact that 1934 still holds the mark for having one of the heftiest annual rain records yet in England (and coming from Manchester believe me that is SAYING something). Okay, so there was the depression and prohibition and street violence and gang warfare and... but, hey, knock off the first two and it's not so different from now, is it?

Good grief, SORRY that took so long! I have no excuses other than I've been really rather busy animating, and seeing my family again, and keeping in touch with Newport by going down there every now and again... okay, so, maybe I have a few excuses, but still, SORRY!

So I recently read a book with some tie-ins to prohibition in the 20s-30s, and now when I look at this, two things go through my head. One; I want Nami's dress. Two; NOO, ZORO, DON'T DRINK THE BOOZE! YOU'LL GO BLIND AND DIE!
Because most alcohol available then from bootleggers was just renatured from other, more toxic alcohols found in everyday products. TheyΒ had wood, methyl, and/or ethyl alcohol, which was only slightly less poisonous than the un-renatured stuff.Β

Wait you mention Manchester and then prohibition. Where are we talking about? B/c my knowledge of prohibition extends throughout the U.S., particularly with a concentration in New York City. If we're talking about England, then...

I have no clue.

SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE! I need superior knowledge!!

MARVELOUS! These guys could practically have a cross-over in "Baccano!", which takes place in the prohibition era too!

SPOILERS: In fact, drinking the Grand Panacea and becoming an immortal would be the "Baccano!" equivalent of eating a devil fruit.

And I have to agree, next to the 80's, I too am charmed by the charisma of the 1920's.

Chopper - the new kid in town
Usopp - the lying, cheating poker player
Nami - the saucy, red hot lounge singer
Sanji - the easy-going... bartender?
Brook - the smooth-talking, panty mongering saxophonist
Luffy - the insane bookie always running from his clients
Zoro - the lone man who thinks his life is in a glass
Robin - the suave and sexy double agent undercover
Franky - the tough as nails gangster with a penchant for fun

I love the 30s! I love One Piece! I love this! This could be an alternate universe!

Luffy: A city boy from South Detroit of Brazilian descent who had to fight to survive. After gaining odd powers, he sets out to a mobster in the Grand Loop (AKA Chicago), just like his mentor Don Shanks. His dream is to become the Don of Dons.

Zoro: A Japanese man from Iowa who fights with three swords. He swore to his sweet heart that he would be the greatest (and probably only) swords man of the era.

Nami: A Swedish immigrant who was saved by a female soldier in World War I. She lived in Mississpi until she was kidnapped and her foster mother was shot in front of her by a mobster who came from the sea, that's why she doesn't trust Luffy and Zoro. She's a lovely singer and loves to make money that way. However, if someone doesn't pay, she steals from them.

Ussop: A half-black half-white boy who grew up on the coast of Georgia. His father is a member of Don Shanks mob and he is very proud of it. He grew up being a liar and formed a street gang. He usually cheats at a casino owned by Kaya. When he's found out, he gets out of it by telling her Tall Tales featuring himself, cheering up the sickly girl. However, her butler doesn't trust him. It's his friendship with Kaya that earn him and Luffy's friend their first mode of transportation; a large truck with a ram hood ournament known as the Going Merry.

Sanji: A French cook from Louisiana who was saved by a fellow country man and mobster; Zeff. Zeff and he survived a hurricane that hit them and killed Zeff's crew and Sanji's fellow cooks. After surviving from starvation, the two set up a restaurant in the over flooded bayou so that anyone lost or left for them like they were would be taken care of. Zeff taught Sanji capoeira, Portuguese fighting that utilizes the legs, so as he would damage his hands. Sanji considers himself a ladies man and he has his eyes set on a certain Swedish crooner.

Tony Tony Chopper: A Canadian boy who resembles a reindeer. He made his residence in a tall, snowy mountain near Chicago along with his mentor, the quack Dr. Hiriluk. They allied themselves with underground healer Dr. Kureha, who, along with Chopper and Hiriluk was forced out of Canada by the corrupt Magistrate Wapol. Hiriluk ended up making a martyr of himself before finishing his ultimate cure. He may be fifiteen, but he's terrible at hiding his emotions and he's a skilled doctor.

Nico Robin: A Russian archaeologist and assasin for the Italian mobster Crocodile. Her entire village of archaeologists, her mother being one of them, were slaughtered by the Bolsheviks with the aid of the US government. She then joined Crocodile in his attempt to overthrow the US govt. as a sort of revenge and the chanc to finish her mothers work. She later joins Luffy's mob. She has the uncanny ability to make any part of her body sprout rom any surface imaginable. She also has her eyes on the mobs repairman. She seems to be a bit of sexual deviant as well (sorry, i just had to put that in).

Franky: The only American in the mob. However, he was raised by a fishman in a car building town on the shores of Lake Michigan and he was the son of Sicilian mobsters. He dreamed to build the best house truck and drive it all around the country. His mentor, Tom, was arrested by the US Govt. for helping the Mafia and sent to be executed. Franky tried in vain to rescue Tom, but, he lost his body in the process. He was able to rebuild himself using car parts and he former a mob of his own. After he meets the Strawhat family, he joins them as the repairman. He is overly emotional and he dress scandalously.

Brook: An Austrian musician who was a former pirate. He is without a doubt, he is the oldest member of the mob, having revived himself. After he revived himself, a Transylvanian mobster enslaved him. After being saved by the Strawhat family, he joined their mob. He is a joker and a dirty old man. He primarily plays the saxophone because of Jazz's popularity, but he can play any instrument.

I'm soooo sorry that that was soooo long I have an overly active imagination.
Just 2 ?s

1. What are the things behind Chopper?
2. Is that Smoker behind Luffy?

I love them all, I really do! All of the settings match the characters to a tee. Well, except maybe Zoro and Sanji as they don't usually look miserable. But that's not important, the point is that they're both my faves because of their melancholy. Geez, as if I couldn't get addicted to them anymore.

Quick question, where is Chopper? A hall of mirrors?
