Description Belgian carabineers on the march in the opening months of World War One. The carts pulled by dogs carry supplies and machine guns. The use of dog-drawn carts within the army was retired in the early twenties.

I chose not to try to colorize the sky, hence giving hte picture a foggy look.

Hope you like it!

Beautiful image, great colours, Β I've seen photos of belgian grenadiers with a high bearskin, and I remember the image of a british newspaper with the photo of a grenadier and the motto three cheers for Belgium, I wonder, Β are going to colorize a grenadier too!?

I haven't forgotten about the grenadier picture but I have a lot of stuff to do for school and such, so I't might take a bit longer before I get going on the colorization

Well, it's a different pre-war photo, but it does have the tall fur busby the grenadiers wore . Thanks!

Our soldiers sure had nice hats.

They are called 'Corsican Hats' and were somewhat a relic from the more 'colorful' period in military history (Napoleonic uniforms etc.) In general, our uniforms were rather outdated by 1914. Also, every branch had their own and often clownesk looking type of uniform.
