Description This is Miguel and Tulio fron the Road to El Dorado.

This was more of an experament than an actual picture, so I just traced it. I was testing out a method of colouring with Adobe Illustrator. It turned out better than most of my real drawings, so I submitted it.

I love the way Miguel's face turned out, but his hands look kind of flat. I'm not too crazy about the backgroung either. Have you ever tried to find a scene inside an empty brig on a wooden ship? I couldn't find that or even a decent picture inside a wooden barn or cottage. I had to take a picture of a fence and stretch and skew it and such making the edges between surfaces far too straight. And, of course, I can't just submit vector art. I had to convert it to a bitmap with Photoshop, turning tho whole picture into a pixelated piece of poo.

You've recreated the scene wonderfully, and the colouring is great.

TULIO. Rofl.
You did a fine job with tracing it, and I think Miguel's hands look fine. Good job.

You might not want to do this in illustrator. If you stricly want to use a drawing program, use Photoshop. Illustrator is Vector Based and thus is more suitable for web design and such. Also, with the highlights, try to not make them plain white. Bump down the opacity to get some of the color of the skin.
Take it or leave it, this is my critique
good luck with future drawings!

Illustrator is vector based, and thus it is NOT for web design. It is meant for printing. Mostly signs and crap, but a lot of people use it for art prints because there is no quality loss like there is with Photoshop. Also, the files aren't really freaking enormous. Photoshop is meant for web design if you're talking about internet graphics, since you can't even save AI files as jpegs/pngs/other flat images.

What are you talking about? Photoshop isn't a drawing program, it's only for altering photos, that's why it's called Photoshop. Illustrator is for drawing, that's why it's called Illustrator. Adobe names their programs rightly.

...Yes Photoshop is a drawing programme. Hence all the drawing tools perhaps?
