Description From chapter 13 of Bye Bye Junior High:

Fire Marshal William, Sergeant Steals, Bruce Lawrence, Dan Raditch and Montgomery Garcia were all on phones throughout the facility pushing hard to get nearby hotels and motels to pitch in and help those displaced by the Degrassi Junior High School Fire, however many of the places they had contacted so far wanted some monetary gain before accepting and at the moment, barely anyone had much to contribute.

After a few more tries, they all simply gave up and headed back into rec room where everyone was hanging out, either watching TV or playing various games.

“Any luck, guys?” Karen Avery asked when she saw the guys walk in very crestfallen.

“None. Many places that we had contacted around here all wanted some monetary gain which none of us really have.....I don't know what we're going to do.” Montgomery sighed.

“Why not contact the Red Cross? Tell them about our situation and maybe they could help us. It's not like we're looking for permanent housing here......this is just a temporary setback due to the Degrassi disaster. We can't stay here.....there's really no privacy, or room for anyone!” suggested Ms. Nelson, Spike's Mother as she busied herself bottle feeding Baby Emma.

“Of course.....why haven't we thought of that earlier? Thanks, Ms. Nelson......um, which department should they ask?” asked William.

“I think this would fall under the category of Emergency and Disaster Services. Hold on.....let me find the number in the phone book. Ah......here it is, Toronto Office for Emergency and Disaster Services.” said Duncan as he handed William a very large and heavy phone book.

“Thank you....hopefully I won't be too long and will be back with some good news!”

“Good luck, William.”
