Iβm trying my hand at Gurren Lagann-style illustrations! They look so deceptively simpleβ¦ yet hard to mimick. @_@I did the artwork in Toonboom Storyboard Pro (the program we use for boarding), and threw a texture on it in Photoshop afterwards.

This is awesome Olga. I have been finding myself doing more and more drawings in SB Pro recently as well. As im doing boards, i'll just go and start messing around with some of , i like it.

Yeah agreement on the Gurren-Lagann eyecatches, the way they distort the figures for the sake of the composition without making the anatomy look wrecked and while keeping the whole thing so dynamic, they're great but hard to emulate!
You've done a good job of it though :U I could tell the inspiration right off, something about the hard black shadows... XD Looks great! (also I am predisposed to like miss martian....... ahem, anyway)

Oh I'm so glad it's recognizable! Yeah, I feel there's a science to those hard black shadows... tho it'll take me a bit to figure out fully. XD

The shadows don't always necessarily fall where they ought to by the chosen light direction, only enough that you still do get a sense for light source, but with an awful lot of 'because it looks cool' bits thrown in. XD
Yessss though I have to admit to a lot of fondness for Aqualad as well.
