It looks great with a black background, that sure is a pretty shade of purple. I'm starting to find a newfound love of tulips.

Yes, tulips are wonderful, and the particular color of this one drew me in as well.

Really beautiful photo. The light and the colours are amazing! Which kind of light did you use? Sorry, I'm curious.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.

Believe it or not, I used a fairly small hand-held flashlight with three different modes: One warm light, 3 white-blue LEDs or 6 white-blue LEDs at once. Either the 3 or 6 LED mode was used for this picture. I also darkened my room to capture this and had to be really careful not to go overkill with the light because the room is so small, thus I went with that flashlight. The very same flashlight was used for the deviation "Rose of Fire"; sadly it broke a few days after that and I don't have it anymore.

Currently I'm using a much, much bigger conventional flashlight with white paper duct-taped to the front; while the produced light is rather cold, it's very soft and diffuse. Great for low-key portraits and such.

Heh, it looks indeed a bit like one! This is due to the way I lit up the flower. I'm glad I decided to use a hand-held flashlight instead of a flash, though.
