After subjecting each other to a quarter hour of slams, collisions, crushing submission holds and finally barrages of fists, the spent warriors soon waned. No longer able to stand, each dropped to one knee, then both knees - but they were still trading brutal, flailing blows! Hoping the next hit will end it all. Then, after an eternity of combat...

DING! DING! DING!

The bell. Their fifteen-minute war had raged, but the time limit had lapsed with no clear winner.

"That's it! Time's up, ladies! Break!! It's over!! I said break!!"

Corveena leaped in to split the weary but determined fighters part and pull them up to standing. Both dead on their feet, still not wanting give in. Corveena raised their arms as the bell continued to chime. The arena is suddenly silent, as the last ring echoed away.

Death-staring at each other, neither woman made a sound except labored breath. Finally, Mo Chen blinked. She managed a half-grin and put out a respectful hand. It causes Olivia's expression to break. She bats away Mo's extended hand and pulls her in for a half hug - which Mo Fei returns after a moment's surprise. With that, the Columbus arena again droned with shouts and cheers.

"They said you never give up easy, Chen." Olivia huffed.

"They said you hit pretty hard, Cowgirl." Mo nodded, . "You lucky we ran outta' time."

"The bell saved you, Chen," Olivia sneered with a grin, "Maybe next time..."

They took their time climbing out and making their way up the ramp. The half-full arena was still a din of chaos and shouts of their names as they walked away. Olivia felt hands patting her shoulder and back as she passed, people reaching out for a high-five or flashing their cell cameras in her face. Mo Chen's long journey to the locker room was the same.

Past the curtains, they were greeted with a mix of glad hands and hugs from half the roster, the other half was a little colder after witnessing the Match of the Year level effort the two women put on and they had to follow.

Welcome long showers and painful efforts to redress later, each got a note on their locker to stop by the arena office after the show.

"Show's barely on the stream and we're already gettin' calls for a rematch! We're wantin' you two headlining next month! We're talking BIG build up... some promos... lotta' pre-show stuff for heat! Lou and I even got a title already... you ready for this? The Clash in Columbus! Huh? Whaddya think?!"

Exhausted, bruised and aching, the two unappreciated athletes looked at one another. Their shared distain was thick in the air.

"Cao ni ma, piyan!" Mo Chen spat under her breath. "Err bei, chi shi..."

The cowgirl grinned and laughed to herself. She didn't need a translator for the contempt in her rival's voice.

"Think she speaks fer both of us, but we'll tell you guys this..."

Olivia and Mo Fei both held up their middle fingers, turned on their heels, and marched out. Neither looked back as they headed out. At the curb outside with their gear, both waited awkwardly for their rides, sharing an occasional. Olivia's Uber arrived and she piled in for the ride to the airport, then the long flight home.

"I prolly jus' made the biggest mistake of my life quitting," Mo Chen sighed. "Maybe I better get a manager soon."

"Managers are overrated," Olivia replied as she climbed into the car, her cell already buzzing from Synde's texts, "Believe me."
