After a series of comments with www.deviantart.com/denerdpaleo… on his artwork www.deviantart.com/denerdpaleo… I got inspired to make this.

A common raccoon (Procyon lotor) is slightly intimidated by a Sinosauropteryx prima, which proceeds to steal some pasta that a clumsy guy dropped on the floor, on a street somewhere at night.

Sinosauropteryx was a meter long theropod dinosaur that lived in China in the early Cretaceous period, 123 million years ago. Its fossils are extremely well preserved and we can tell that it had feathers, but not just that, there are even traces of melanosomes so we can tell what colour it was in life. It was mostly reddish brown, with a pale underside, a stripy tail and a mask-like pattern around its eyes. I find the mask and tail to remind me of raccoons,commonly referred to online as ‘trash pandas’. So I decided to draw the trash panda with its lookalike dinosaur.

How is the dinosaur him the modern day, on a street with a raccoon? I’ll leave that to your own imagination like how Chased By Dinosaurs let you wonder what Nigel Marven did to end up in the Cretaceous. But perhaps Primeval style stuff isn’t going on. I know Sino is a carnivore and pasta is made from plants but hey it’s covered in good sauce.
