Description
Yanus is the main character of my story. He is Mers, a son of Lazus, which means he can live forever if circumstance permits it.

His parents were killed when Umar fell into madness by Malice. A mere boy of nine he traveling with a band a refugees as they crossed the ocean but soon after landing the convoy was attacked by a fell dragon. Yanus was the only survivor having fought and killed the dragon. The warlord Togan Yoshitore a mortal man was impressed by Yanus's bravery and skill with a sword took him in as his own and raised him to be his heir.

Soon after Yanus was adopted Togen had his first blood related son Kego. Two years later Togen had a daughter to one of his concubines (as Togen's first wife passed away soon after Kego's birth). The girl was named Sakura.

Yanus took to his duties as an older brother with pride and grew close to his siblings particularly to his sister. Later Yanus's feelings for his sister grow. At the age of twenty-six and faced with the possible shame that he would face if he were to act upon his feels, leaves his family to live in the southern kingdom.

War however threatens his (adoptive) father's kingdom as Lusifear's armies cross the ocean forcing Yanus's return and forcing him to confront himself.

Note: I spelled his name Yanus and not Janus, which is the common spelling, mostly because people have a tendency to mis-pronoun the name with a hard 'J' sound which makes it a girl's name.

Also note, to a Mers age is meaningless as they tend to live very long lives. It is not uncommon to have a fifty plus year gap between spouses (I mean what's fifty years compared to three hundred, four hundred years).

Also living in the house of a Warlord based on the feudal lords of Japan means that you don't get out much. Most of Yanus's early life is spent with his siblings, sparing with his brother and tutoring his sister.
