hmm if its plasma, then it wouldn't require a magazine now would it? unless the magazine contains gas at such high pressure and temperature that, when released, turns to plasma, but then you would still need a magnetic field to keep the plasma shaped into a controllable form

yeah... Plasma's now a crutch for sci-fi
But if each shell contained the gas, and like the Halo universe, the gun had magnetic systems in place...
