Ahhhh, Gillian in the window. I remember a similar shot to this you sent me a while back, and I remember absolutely adoring it. The concept may be one that's been done to hell, but hey, what hasn't these days realistically? Also, who cares if they're not pulling it off anywhere near as successfully as you anyway? Not me, that's for sure.
You've got a rare ability to make sad things somehow beautiful, Gilly. To transform what would normally be a depressing and listless scene into something that's beautiful and placid. In this shot, I think it's the creative use of negative space and how the hard edges interact with both the light and space. Also, the hard edges with the soft of your hair is a remarkable thing.
