Thus far the most detailed and time-consuming work I've done. Thanks to some feedback I decided to throw a few reference images together and try my hand at an almost-waist-up shot. Definitely seems to have some together well though the deep gradients perturb me somewhat (especially in regards to the hair). The hardest part this time was taking my first stab at some serious musculature, namely with regard to the abs and navel area. I think I nailed it, and a lot of credit can go towards the effort I took to layer multiple gradients alongside each other to add depth to the various muscles.

I think it's clear that approach I took here with radial and uni-directional gradients would be harder to pull off in an action pose, but I'm plenty satisfied that I managed what I have as well as I did. I may tweak the original files' colors a bit (I realize that my screen may display colors slightly differently since my printer seems to consistently botch skin tones), but as it is I'm quite pleased.
