Description A single zombie is of little concern, but there's no such thing as "a single zombie". Zombies are always found in hordes, and no matter how low their numbers are brought down, the return of the undead is as inevitable as death itself. Having no individual thoughts besides an endless hunger, zombies move and act as one to destroy any obstacles between them and their next victims. This gestalt behavior of theirs has led to some hypothesizing that zombies possess a sort of "hive mind", although no proof has ever surfaced.

Until one day, a combination of illegal chemical dumping and a long-forgotten mass grave beneath the local cemetery allowed something else to surface...

I've been in an art funk for the last couple weeks. With the exception of commissions, I haven't been able to bring myself to finish any piece beyond rough sketches. In an attempt to break myself out of this funk, I've tried something a little different than what I usually do- instead of digitally inking and coloring over a rough sketch, I made a more detailed sketch than I normally do and colored over it in a rougher, messier style than my usual cel-shaded stuff. This particular piece of mine is something I've wanted to finish for a while now, and now that it's done I feel more confident in myself. Hopefully it lasts.

Now this is a fantasticly grisly piece, love the idea that the land itself is the monster.

And nice attention to all those damned souls acting as it's gruesome limbs, that's super rad!

I like it. This can stand alone as you described, or as a metaphor for the zombie phenomenon. I could see this as a pulp paperback cover from my youth titled "Tsunami".

BTW, your comment about there never being just one zombie reminded me of the Borg from Star Trek TNG. When you killed one, you killed one. When they killed one of you, you lost a fighter but they gained one as another Borg was assimilated.

This gets more interesting and more creepy the longer you look at it. Very original concept!

Neat! Reminds me of the castlevania bosses that were giant massed collections of hundreds of zombies.

That was one of the initial inspirations, though my main inspiration was the song "Zombies, March!" by Gwar.
