I wanted to make a regional evolution to my least favorite route 1 rodent line that would make me want to use them on a team. I established the safari ranger motif with the pre-evos to lead up to the final evo becoming a Bush Ranger, aka an Australian Outlaw!
A lot of Wrangoos' design takes inspiration from these rangers, such as the legs resembling cowboy pants, the long extended "hat", the green "poncho", and the long overcoat-shaped tail. However I tried my best to keep it as beastly as possible to not make it look like a human in a fursuit.
Even though its inspiration isn't a lawful occupation, I kept Wrangoos as a pure Fighting type, and its Pokedex description also points to it not being particularly malicious. This is to avoid having too many dual-type Pokemon in the dex as well as to distinguish it from another Pokemon coming up soon that would be a Dark/Fighting type!
