A little something I drew for a friend of mine. Spider-Man is generally depicted as a slim or lithe figure; look anywhere and that's what you'll find. It's a standard "look" that artists have popularized over the years. And here I am ruining that for everyone.
I didn't start working on this one with the intention of making a thicker Spider-Man. I was definitely going for a John Romita Jr. look with the arms, but I of course had to go overboard and ended up with this almost comically-big yet still good-looking Spidey.

The webs were lots of fun to draw, but took a really long time. I generally avoid drawing Spider-Man because I always dread drawing his webs. I looked at a whole bunch of reference material so I could do them right. And I still messed up on them on the shoulder and back area (the vertical webs on his arm are supposed to connect to the ones on his neck, not to the ones on his back).
My favorite part is his left foot. I think the shape looks real great and the webs are best drawn there.
I don't really like his head. It think it curves too far back or something. His entire right leg is also kinda boring to look at.
