“Looks like we are the loser’s bracket” Holly says as her and Janie circle each other. Her tone is jocular, trying to make light of what is sure to be a tough situation. One of these girls is going to finish this mini tournament without a victory.

“Hmph” Janie just snarls “After this, Holly, you’ll be the only loser in this ring.” Janie is in a bit of a dour mood. She’s had a long tournament and it hasn’t gone the way she had envisioned. She learned early on that the girls in this gym are far tougher than she thought and she took some beatings. Her outside training has bad dividends, clearly, but she still had no wins to show for it. She knew in this match she’d be the better fighter and had every intention of piling all her anguish on to Holly in this one.

Holly for her part was actually pretty thrilled. She hadn’t known what to expect when she did this tournament. She thought she’d lose a lot and she was right. She got in on this thing mostly on a whim and found herself really enjoying it. She was sore most weekends but as the weeks wore on she found she was recovering quicker each week. She really was having fun. She had not pretenses that she’d do much better hear against the smaller Janie but she knew she was going to at least have a chance.
