Nervous wasn’t the right word that McKenzie felt for her debut.   It wasn’t that at all. She came from a family of rough and tumbles and all indications this wouldn’t be any worse than that. Without the love of each other of course.

There was bound to be some competitive juices going for sure, but Laura had told her that most fights were definitive then amicable. It was an apt description it seemed.

McKenzie knew she could handle herself a little but she wasn’t Laura’s equal, she knew it and never pretended to be otherwise.   She took a different path, college degree and business for her. It came easier for her than it did for Laura but no one encouraged her more than her big sister.

In true Irish American fashion though she always had a little of the scrap bug in her. Now it was time to find out what she could do and the JSG forum was perfect.   No laying out on the street bloodied if it went bad.

At least not likely.

Camille was the one WGWC girls who was not disappointed in her tournament performance.   She was not happy she lost but she was the one who had tempered her expectations. Being a bit older perhaps she was just wiser and set the bar lower. It was unreasonable to think any of them would walk out a champion.   The odds alone were long; 22-1 at best. Further than that really as none of them had ever been in the ring before.   Now that she knew what to expect and had seen of the girls she knew the competition was much stiffer than the basement gym the neighborhood girls used.

She was excited to test herself again.

And of course the gym threw an entirely new girl at her after she watched the comings and goings of everyone she thought might join the league. Bad luck but she wasn’t going to let it deter her. She loved the competition and this was just another step.

Right from the start these two tore into each other.   Similar builds and only a little size between them it was going to be a war of attrition it felt.

Slam and hold, both performed skillfully at times and recklessly at times. It was to be expected as first one then the other seizing command of the match.

Even Diane in the ring privately speculated that the pace they set couldn’t last long, one or both would tire or one would get caught with an impact maneuver they couldn’t recover from.

Diane was sure when McKenzie hoisted Camille up and over and bridged a German suplex that was going to be the moment she wondered about, but Camille surprised her by rolling out at a count of two.
