Description
A bright moon floated in the clear sky overhead, spilling light over the sleeping camp. Ruby, the resident healer, lay on the ground of the nursery. She was too tired from her day's work to return to her den, and she'd wanted to see the new arrivals to sleep. Her new apprentice lay sleeping, exhasuted beside her, with smol bundles cuddled up to her warm side. One of them had scooted closer to Ruby, nuzzling themselves under her paw while she slept.
A gentle nuzzle woke her slowly, and a familiar scent bathed her. Borealis. She opened one eye drearily to see his form nudging her awake. "Come back to the den, it's late," He murmured lowly. Ruby smiled, warmth flooding through her despite the chill, and she got to her paws- carefully so as to not wake the small cub. She nudged it back towards its mothers side before she turned and left the den with Borealis. The cubs were grandkids of her best friend, Rue. The conversation they'd had the year before when she'd sat with her in the nursery returned to her.

"Ruby, when are you going to settle down and have cubs of your own?" Rue had asked. "At this pace my youngest will be mentoring yours!" Ruby had sighed and shrugged.
"When the right one comes along, I guess."

The cheetah now glanced at Borealis beside her, her tail tip twitching with excitment, and her heart glowed like she thought it never could. He returned her glance, questioning, but all Ruby could do was purr.
