There's all sorts of hype going around among pokefans concerning the new mega evolutions that might show up in the upcoming Gen3 remakes Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby. As someone deeply involved in competitive pokemon battling, I'm definitely riding along on that hype train. And there's one mega I'm hoping for more than any other - Mega Flygon! Flygon is an awesome pokemon but just needs that teeny tiny boost to gain competitive value. So I went ahead and sketched up a possible version of what I hope Mega Flygon might look like!

Let's examine the changes we've got here. First off, Flygon now has armor - which is reflected in the defensive boost I gave him. Finally, Flygon can take some damage! The armor has a diamond motif which is something we've already seen a lot of in Flygon's design. It's also a nice callback to Flygon's original form - let's not forget that Trapinch had an armored build.

Mega Flygon's wings are elongated, making him a swifter flyer. His claws remain the same, but he's got some feet claws too - overall, he's going to be packing a harder physical punch. The boosted speed and attack are also reflected in the projected stats I gave him. These are the areas Flygon already excelled in the most, and I believe the best megas emphasize the strengths a pokemon already has. I kept his typing and ability the same - those two things are a big part of what makes Flygon unique, and I saw no need to alter them.

I made sure to put a date on this illustration - here's hoping we see the real Mega Flygon soon! I can't wait to see whether or not my concept comes close to the real deal.
