The question is what shouldn't be in focus, The closest flower is useless, without it the photograph is superb (;

you completely contradicted yourself. either you understand the shot and either enjoy it or not... or you don't understand it, in which case you ask the artist with respect what it's supposed to represent. In this case, the bud was in focus and the background/foreground flowers frame the bud. that is all.
