Okay, yes, this is late. I took nearly two extra hours to get this posted. I did finish it before midnight, but I’m only posting it now because something else (namely the wipe off doodle) took my time.
In any case, this is Sam with a book. Herd minding is a boring job most of the time, so to keep himself busy, the little merboy shepherd breaks out the reading primers he’s stolen from school-age elves playing hooky. Reading elven books isn't really forbidden, but Sam's interest in life on land is quite disconcerting for his family, especially since they've already lost one son to the land dwellers. And though Sam has good reason to be afraid of land people, elves are more technologically advanced than merpeople are, and he can't help but be curious about their world.

Poor doggy. He just wants his master to come back in the water and play. Sea dogs gets bored, too. The hippocamp cow seems pretty content to let the little shepherd lounge on her back. Sam had just better hope the dog doesn't try to drive her into deeper water. If she submerges, it's curtains for that book...
