What I usually do to prepare for an exam is that I study more than what I need to avoid the trick questions that are usually sneaked in there. But...I usually don't even need to know half of what I studied. But it helps to over prepare.

This is what I try to do before a big exam to make things interesting.
(If I don't, it's finished in 30 minutes at the most, and there's still about 1 1/2 hours left of class.)
