Apparently some of the younger users here have never heard of Photoshop. Great shot.

Ok the fact that you take photos of a dead fish is kind of disturbing.

Its photoshop. She took a picture of a fish and flipped it upside down using photoshop. If it was dead it would be floating.

Brilliant photo as always - and such a thoughtful yet sad concept.
I hope the fish died naturally. If so, then that's fine. He's pretty famous with all these photos of him!

ugh! Stop crying about the dead fish! Look at how small he is in the first photos and then how big he is in this photo! Obviously, the fish lived a long happy life that just came to a natural end. Just because someone took a picture of a dead thing doesn't mean they killed it.

You can flip images in Photoshop xD The fish is probably fine. They said no fish were harmed for this.

Um... you know it's natural for a lake to look like that right?
The alge plays a huge part in keeping the water oxygenated. If the green alge was removed THEN everything in the lake would die.

XxSilverMoonFoxX In reply to Kai-ni [2012-10-26 16:19:18 +0000 UTC]
Actually I wouldn't necessarily say that's natural. Lakes should not be a green color or covered with thick algae mats. It's true that algae can help contribute to dissolved oxygen in water but it can also greatly deplete it too via algae blooms. Excessive algae blocks out the sun for aquatic grasses as well as exerting an increased biochemical oxygen demand when being decomposed, which can cause dead zones.

That isn't just algae tho. Don't you see the oil swirls?
π: 0 β©: 0
Dancing-Jebus In reply to Kai-ni [2012-10-26 01:45:35 +0000 UTC]
true, however a lot of our water has a large oil filament on top due to natural pollution, but mainly due to humans polluting the world.
Maybe the main idea isnt about what the water has in it, rather that if you were a fish - would you enjoy swimming in water that dirty?
As a human, would you swim in water that dirty?
Or maybe the idea is that we coddle our pets so much with cleanliness, that we kill them, and they'd just rather live in their natural habitat or algae filled lakes and ponds.

I'm just pointing out what is PICTURED is not pollution at all, it's natural. So the title and supposed meaning is quite silly to me.

If you actually study the picture you can see that it isn't being held over a lake. It seems to me to be a hard surface, seeing as it isn't reflected as it would be in actual water (I believe it's a shadow), nor does it have very convincing liquid like properties.
Anyway, great piece of art

IkariK In reply to Snaffeine [2012-10-26 03:18:41 +0000 UTC]
it's still water, it does the same thing when it's not moving, and if it's slightly shading, only close things would get reflected
π: 0 β©: 1
IkariK In reply to IkariK [2012-10-26 03:20:28 +0000 UTC]
shady*
the slight reflection makes it look like a shadow cause the light isn't really reflecting it, you're just blocking even more light so it's darker there, you can see sticks poking out with the water sitting around it
