Ivan seems stoic upon first impression, and he keeps more to himself. He can be wary of others at first, but is very hopeful in making friendships. Ivan is a perfectionist and is afraid of disappointing others; even if he has succeeded at a task, he personally feels that it is not good enough. This makes him strive to do better the next chance he can. However, he is not boastful to others and is rather modest and humble. Ivan can be naïve due to his sheltered upbringing and lack of worldly experience. Unless he trusts someone enough, he will be more likely to internalize his anger and sadness as he does not want to bother others with his problems.

▫ Biography:
Ivan grew up in a loving, middle-class family in the outskirts of Moscow. He has three younger brothers and a sister, making him the oldest of five siblings. His father worked as a merchant and dealt mostly in furs that he acquired on hunting trips, while his mother looked after the household. Ivan was very close with his father, who taught him how to hunt and trap in the nearby woods. He would soon become head of the household after his father, and looked after his younger siblings to lessen his parents responsibilities.

Templar influence slowly crept into the region and the Knights were able to climb the ranks of the Boyars and deceive the monarchs. They began seizing land and properties, exploiting the citizens and spreading corruption through the Church and officials. With the expansion of the Muscovy territory, tensions were also mounting within the surrounding settlements. This resulted in several attacks and raids on the towns and villages, including Ivan’s home near Moscow. The family was for the most part unharmed, although very shaken, but it was the last straw for Ivan. He was fed up with the tyranny of the Templars, who no longer felt the need to keep this fact a secret, and wanted to stop them.

His father told him of the Assassin’s, whom he was allied with and was once active member years before he started a family. His tranquil and safe life shattered, Ivan accepted his Assassin heritage and chose to seek out their guidance and aide. However, he was very apprehensive to leave his home and family; they had always been close and had never traveled far before. He set off from home for Constantinople; so that he might join the Assassin’s and be able to better protect his family and home. Ivan feels guilty about leaving them behind: his aging parents would struggle to provide and look after the other children without their eldest son around.
