Description
This is a comic I drew many, many years ago, based on a poem/short story by Loren Eyseley.It was also an excuse to "recycle" one of my old, old characters from back in like, fourth grade or something. An orchre-colored Norwegian Forest cat in a black turtle neck and with an affinity for the sea and a hobby of collecting sea shells. His name is Toby, and I'd love for this character to be part of a larger story some day. Ray's younger brother Max is slightly based off of Toby, but Max grew to be a sort of nihilistic, slightly cynical version instead whereas Toby's just a shy little sweetheart.
Uh, anyhow..
I'm claming credit for my characters and my art, not the story this comic is based on.

Interesting poem storytelling ... maybe if you were to develop these chjaracters further into something bigger, they could be part of the world in "Spike" / or a spin-off?

I hate people with an "If you can't do everything, don't do anything" attitude.. every little things matters, especially if it's about saving someone/something

It's crazy, I saw a snippet of the original poem which is called "The Little Starfish" and my mother has it hanging in our bathroom with a stone starfish carving next to it! Funny how I see one of my favorite artists draw a small comic thing on it.

I called a suicide hotline to make sure it worked, and that I could give the number to somebody who needed it, and I asked the woman on the line how she didn't get cripplingly depressed/ just give up after all of the calls she takes and all of the horrible stories she hears
and she told me this story
