man, I was gonna say so much about the meaning behind this drawing and stuff, but now I'm so sleepy I've forgotten about it all XD
but it's sort of Sam's emotions, what he feels like after the fallout.

Grumpy male character with black hair and more optimistic male character with blonde hair. Of course that equals Naruto and Sasuke lol how have I been this blind. Spike totally looks like Sasuke. Oh, or what about Manji from Blade of the Immortal? Or Vincent from Final Fantasy? Oh, or Ishida from Bleach? Hey, what about Levi from Attack on Titan? Or Itachi from Naruto? Sebastian from Black Butler? Totally reminds one of (insert names of every male anime character ever with black hair and something grumpy or mysterious about them), amirite?
What about Sam though? Total Naruto rip off, naturally. Their different personalities doesn't matter, it's the length and color of the hair and the fact that they have a friend with black hair that makes them literally the same character. Totally Armin from Attack on Titan too though, right? Or Alphonse Elric from Full Metal Alchemist! Nagisa Hazuki from Free, Cloud from Final Fantasy, Deidara from Naruto, etc..
They totally look like Goku and Vegeta too though, but only when Goku is in his sayan mode cause then his hair is blonde and he really contrasts Vegeta who is a grumpy dude with black hair. Literally Goku and Vegeta / Vincent and Cloud / Armin and Eren or Levi/ Roy Mustang and Alphonse Elric / wtf lol
If I had a penny for every time someone compared Spike and Sam to Sasuke and Naruto...

I assume you mean the design. I get what you mean about the hair and possibly the eyes, but I just think it's a very dull and not very imaginative sort of comparison. I see no point in defending the character design or anything, I just don't get why you insist so much on them being the same character? Like... Ok, you think they do. So? Why telling me? Why pointing it out in the first place? What are you trying to say or achieve by it? Why do YOU bother?

I saw this on Facebook with no artist mentioned, so I searched it out, and here I am.
I know nothing of the characters or the story, so I interpreted this my own way: The real, inner me (left) trying to get to the me I show everyone (right).
I keep so much hidden from the world, and this is a perfect representation of my internal conflict. I've shown this to others, and they've had similar reactions. Some have even cried.
It's a beautiful piece, and I love you for making it.
