The beautiful but secretive clouded leopard
Second try with shi painter and tried something a bit more elaborate than my last cougar pic. Though the program uses up so much memory that I had to save it once in the unfinished stage when my laptop threatened to start closing programs, and then hurry up and get it done after that, thus the somewhat rushed areas in the bg =3 Eh, it's ok though, I guess that not overdetailing the very back gives more focus to the leopard...
I'm not completely satisfied with it, but hopefully if I keep practicing I'll get my colouring right one of these days ;D

oh yes, I almost always use references, at least for the animal
usually my refs are from getty images, webshots, national geographic magazines and so on...

I really love shading on leopard, except its eyes... Think, you don't completely understand how to make them really deep and shiny. They seem muddy now.
And background must not be so contrast (the "farest" areas, at least), imho.
But overall its very good picture!
