Was able to whip out another piece to print for the upcoming weekend. This time featuring one of the newest Pokemon revealed, Ninfia (or Sylveon). While in class a semester ago I had tried to combine a modern era social media figure that we recognize (it that case, the main characters from The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of time) with a pre-modern art style- Art Nouveau. I was able to dapple in that again with this piece- actually finishing it too! (the Zelda piece is still in progress). I really love appropriating styles, especially Muncha's. His simplicity in the flatness, but detail to curves and flesh tones was really just eye-catching.
Originally I was going to have this piece with a much more caddy air to it. Like having the text read "Too Kawaii for you" or something to that degree. But as I worked on it more and more, the pose just totally reminded me of the profile Muncha made. I changed the entire theme to something more sophisticated (as sophisticated as Pokemon can get) and tried to preset Sylveon in an elegant way.
She reminds me much a prized cat from that era, sitting on a silk pillow, presumably surrounded by fine cut salmon (magikarp? lol)

Sorry for the water mark. I'll take it off in a couple weeks.

I'm totally up to suggestions btw! I became pretty stumped as to what to do for the background. I kinda feel like I didn't do justice to the wonderful art nouveau style.
