Description Taken on 31/12/06 - The weather here on the south coast was really bad, windy and rainy and very foggy. I took a series of Corfe Castle through the mist for a nice exercise in cleaning photos up and getting good atmosphere. Let me know what you think.

For more info on the castle put it into Wikipedia.

nice work. I've been meaning to get some mist shots of corfe castle for a long time but I don't have the time to find any 'hotspots' as it were. Its visible from RSPB Arne but I need to find that hill you've taken this shot from hehe.

If your open to advice on this, I would crop the image to remove the tree in the foreground - its too distracting - and create a fuax panorama with it (longer in width than height ratio). I think this would give it much better composition and more mood.

Using zoom is a great idea for landscapes like this but NEVER use digital zoom as all it does is resize pixels and ruins your shot

great effot though!

I am always open to advice, especially when it's constructive as this is. To be honest, I just wanted to get the shot and get out the sodding wind

To get to where this was taken leave Corfe Castle in the direction of Harman's Cross. Just after exiting the town there is a road to the right that goes up the hill, go up there - the road is really twisty. At the top of a hill is a village. Where the road goes left at the church there is a road to the right that goes to the pub. There is a parking lot round back, this shot was taken from there.

do you mean the road that heads down to worth matravers with the pub at the top before it turns left, covered in red leaves?

Yep. That's it. I think... Don't gop now, though. It's all covered in scaffolding.

yeah i know. it has been for two years. If its siloetted tho the scaffolding will give a more realistic feel to the size of the castle and give the impression it is 'more complete' than it is, and an idea of what it would of looked like originally

Thanks. I am planning on returning here (it's not far from where I live) and doing some more close up work on it.

Thanks! I still can't figure out if I like it or not... Something about it just bugs me.

I must admit I feel the same about whether I like it or not but you did succeed in creating an atmosphere

I will probably end up gaffing it out of the gallery at some point, but an effort is worth the effort...

Did you use a digital zoom on that at all, Steve?

I didn't realise it could be turned on or off.
