Description

Of course, I will once again start this by saying that if you haven't done so already, you should totally check out The Cryptid Cases, the series this comes from www.littlegiantmonsters.com/th…

So with Champ out of the way, I wanted the next cryptid in the series to be not really threatening, but still something iconic. So I went with the Loveland Frogmen. Though as you can see from the picture, I decided they're not amphibians but gigantic, bipedal, iguanas. At this point I was still trying to settle on the aesthetic of the series, how 'fantastical' cryptids would be compared to normal animals, so I kept it pretty, I dunno, naturalistic? I still wanted it to be a creature that could have conceivably evolved from something we know, as opposed to something completely alien and monstrous, like the Jersey Devil or Flatwoods Monster. So yeah, simple, but I like it.

Very interesting take, Jessy! What made ya decide on an iguana base over a frog or toad?

Well I think it was, how I mentioned, I was still trying to figure out how much I wanted the cryptids to strain believability/realism. With things like large iguanas, komodo dragons, etc, reptiles can actually grow this large in real life. So in my mind I thought, 'it's more likely that an already-large reptile would evolve bipedally than an amphibian growing gigantic and bipedal.' Plus, in-universe, it made sense to me that a big wet lizard coming out of the water would be just as likely to be described as an amphibian (I did try to make the head a little more frog-like for that reason as well)
