Beleth has a reputation through history and amongst her contractors as a temptress, succubus, whore of babylon type of demon. Not unfounded, and also not without its fair share of exacerbation and rumor-mongering by none other than Beleth herself. She's given to smugness and vanity, and a part of that ego comes from the knowledge that even if she has no other conceivable weapon against her summoners, she can always exploit their basest desires. Besides this, the aesthetically appealing, seductive forms she chooses to appear in have led to many of the civilizations she has served attributing her actions and face to more than a few patron goddesses--most notably Bellona and Venus in Rome.
In the world of Beleth's story, it's not uncommon for the actions of demons to be historically attributed to local deities, particularly by humans who did not themselves summon demons, and thus had less knowledge of their workings and natures. The responses of individual demons to such misattribution are as varied as the creatures themselves--some scoff at human ignorance, others find it personally amusing. Beleth, on her part, always found it flattering of herself and her ego. She quietly misses the days when she was able to receive some godly acclaim--over the course of history, it decreased with the rate that old superstitions and mythological pantheons did.
In the modern world that congratulates itself on its rational mind and scientific outlook, all humans, whether contractors or not, treat her now as a demon and nothing more. Her established and well-known reputation as a trickster and temptress has also wised a number of contractors to her traditional deceptions. Beleth often finds herself missing the old world of mysticism, myth, and superstition, wondering if she is an antiquated relic that has been left behind by the swift trot of progress.
