Description Hey everybody, it's...well, do I really need to tell you? Except that this isn't any ordinary Venom...this is movie-verse Venom, played by Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3 (though a disaster, it holds a special place in my twisted heart).

There's only one reason why I hate drawing Spider-Man's original/nova-retro costume: the web patterns. HATE THEM. Same goes for this Venom design, though it was a wee bit easier since his web pattern is demented and uneven. Still, HATE THEM. Also if you're one of those unobservant Spider-Man movie fans that believes I forgot to extend the web pattern down across his jaw, HA! You clearly weren't observant enough to notice his mouth area and chin aren't covered in the movie! I know this because I took MANY screenshots of all the Venom bits, just to study his design.

I deviated a bit from the true Venom movie design by changing the spider symbol and giving him a more prominent chin (which is an element I believe essential to the character). I think the tough part about the final colored version of this piece will be the communication of his body parts, i.e. separating his fingers and hand from the rest of his arm. I tried to account for the difference in web patterns between the fingers and the arm, so when all those little X'd spaces are filled with black, they're still distinguishable. Making the spider symbol a 3-D element was an afterthought of the initial sketch, right as I was beginning the webbing. Sue me for its crappiness.
