I walk down the street
Happy, with head held high
Thinking of what my day
May entail

Suddenly, out of nowhere
You pass me and mutter a 'Hi'
And like that, three years of joy and
Three months of tears
Flash before me-
Etched in my mind.

I divert my eyes
And respond quietly,
While a single tear
Trickles down my face
