I've shot many airshows over a couple of decades back when my health and finances let me, so I think I'm qualified to tell you that this is one of the best B-17 shots I've seen; you exploited (or got lucky) with the overcast which gave you a perfect light level, resulting in you getting the aluminum and bright yellow very well balanced. You got the light pretty good on said aluminum, used what appears to be 1/250th shutter speed (what I always use on props - faster freezes the prop blades), and just captured this bird very well in this attitude. I've shot a few B-17s, but the clouds were just too dark and weather too crappy when I had the chance to shoot this machine. The backdrop reminded me of that. It's one of the pix I see on here that just hits me, maybe because I missed my chance. Thanx for posting this.

Say what you will about the Flying Fortress, I'll stick with the B-24 Flying Furniture Van.  Convair made a Navy version called the Privateer that raised Hell with the Japanese in the Pacific.

Awesome! I love the B-17, it's my third favorite plane after the Mustang and the Tomcat!

Love this shot of this particular Fort. Only chance I got to shoot her was many yrs ago in the rain, much darker clouds. Was lousy, but this is great, you exploited the cloud cover very well.

Thanks very much, yeah sometime shooting in this kind of weather is a crap-shoot you can have all your camera settings adjusted to cover the existing lighting conditions, you can be physically positioned to capture the perfectly composed image, everything that can be right is going right........then in the middle of the panning shot, the sun goes hiding behind a thick cloud bank rendering the existing lighting to shit! Thankfully this did not happen with this image and I'm very proud of that...LOL! Moody days are always a challenge, but it sure does pay off when you guess right about it!
