About the Character

Personality: Caerus is reminiscent of a wild bull; out of control, reckless, and unstoppable. Nothing, not even his own limitations, can stop him from trying to be the best (that no one ever was). He is the pinnacle of ambition, and he makes sure nothing holds him back. That's the thing though, he has no idea when enough is enough. It would be impossible to list all of the times he had pushed himself past his limits and ended up overexerting himself to the point of passing out. It's extremely damaging, and he often requires his sister to remind him to be careful. Not mention, he's exorbitantly conceited, usually making it hard to associate with. His selfishness tends to get in the way of his goals, acting as an invisible barricade. Even though he's quite full of himself, whenever he, "fails" by his own admission, he beats himself up over it, and doesn't let of it until he can overcome whatever he failed. His determination is boundless, unhindered by nothing except himself. His motto is, "I'm either full blast, or nothing at all." For all the strife he may cause to others and himself, he actually does have a bit of a soft side towards those he cares for, one being his sister, and would do nothing short of dismemberment if someone he loved was hurt.

Character Background:

BBS: Age 4

Even at a young age, Caerus was always rowdy and reckless, but he was much more optimistic with his outlook on life. He was born in Disney Town, just a year after his sister, Sabal. Sabal and Caerus were quite fortunate, as their parents were employed within King Mickey's castle, with their mother overseeing the broomst- Ahem, guards, and their father one of the librarians within the towering library. As such, they had frequent access to the castle, and those within it. While Sabal got acquainted with the library, he was interested in the training rooms. While he dearly loved his home and his family, he was always antsy, and on edge for adventure. This sense increased after news had spread of Pete, the town's resident trouble maker, had mysteriously disappeared while in captivity. He was curious, but no one ever told him what was going on. He was eventually forced to leave the matter alone, but it always nagged at him.

KH1: Age 15

It'd been many years since then, but after having undergone proper training, Caerus was still itching for a grand adventure. His little town wasn't enough to sate him any more. Was this all there was to life? Would he be stuck here forever? Desperate, he approached Sabal for answers. Having become their father's assistant in the library, she was a fortune of knowledge, so she must have certainly known something. He was proven correct as she reluctantly revealed about the existence of other worlds out their besides their own, and he was ecstatic.

Until she mentioned how recently, she heard the castle's denizens talking of how many of them were slowly being consumed by the darkness.

He was stunned into silence. Then, he became furious.

How could they just ignore the commotion out side? Leaving the people to be devoured by darkness? Just because they didn't want to remove their rose-colored glasses? Sabal tried to tell him that there was nothing they COULD do, but he ignored her, and stormed off.

Later, while moping in the gardens, he happened to overhear quite the interesting story..

The resident Mage and Knight of the castle were hopping on a ship outside their little world, to find some sort of thing called a Key-Wielder.

Caerus took no time to think about the consequences, only seeing this as a golden ticket out of there. So, he gathered some things quickly, and stowed away onto their ship when the chipmunks had their backs turned.

To his delight, he went undiscovered, and hastily got off the first stop they reached: Traverse Town.

Avoiding the mage and the knight as much as he could, he decided to finally explore somewhere outside of his home. After some investigating, he realized he was in the world of the refugees of other worlds. What luck! A wealth of knowledge from so many people! Yet, the more he learned from these people, the more angry he became over what was going on. At first, he became distracted by so many different perspectives and lives, that he forgot his original purpose for his escape.

The homeless, the orphans, the tortured survivors who escaped the darkness. The ones who fear the 2nd and 3rd districts, who are traumatized forever by the darkness. The people he wanted to help.

After his epiphany, he devoted his time fruitlessly trying to clear out those two districts, as he remained without transportation. He didn't realize they spawned endlessly, yet he continued fighting to try and clear everyone's worries. However, he could only remain anonymous for so long.

In the midst of fighting, he finally pushed himself over the edge. He'd been fighting for so long, and didn't even think to stop and take a breather. Before he could be devoured, he is saved by two familiar faces, and a boy wielding a giant key.. So it had seemed the knight and the mage had found the elusive wielder. Unfortunately, word of his disappearance had reached the trio via the chipmunks, and he immediately resisted their attempts to bring him back home. Caerus told them of his venture to clear out the heartless, save the people, and be a hero. How could he do that just sitting around at home, doing nothing? However, before the two could respond, the Key-wielder stepped in.

He introduced himself as Sora, and that shared Caerus's dream of finishing off the heartless, finding his friends, and going home. Then, he asked Caerus how he could save everyone if he was so busy running himself into the ground. He mentioned how he himself would never find his friends if was flat on his face passed out the whole time. Besides, is a knight in training prepared to save everyone better than a full fledged knight? Sora took the moment to convince Caerus that he'd be better off finishing his training and maturing before he dove into the battlefield head first. It's better to take the time to be prepared, than going in quickly and failing immediately, right?

Caerus took a moment to consider his words, then agreed to go back home.

They take the time to go back to Disney Town, and into the castle. The trio is about to go back on their adventure, when Caerus asked Sora, in a sort of after thought,
"Hey, if you say a kid like me isn't ready to fight, then what makes you ready, Sora?"
The key-wielder smiled a sad smile, and raised his giant weapon into the air.
"I'm not. I don't want to, but I have to. The Key reminds me I have people out there waiting for me, so we can go home. Just like you did."
Then, they left, and while going through a tearful reunion with his parents and Sabal, Caerus pondered on the strangely wise kid.

KH2: Age 16
Caerus had spent those two years putting all his effort into becoming a knight. He still hadn't reached his highly coveted position, but he was in a much better state than he was the first time he met Sora. When the trio makes a return to the castle, he's happy to see the goofy trio after so long. However, the reason they returned was anything but good.

As the castle was under attack, he finally took his time to shine, and defeated the heartless with Sabal's guidance quickly and efficiently while the trio did what they needed to do. They seemed endless, but under the trio's mysterious efforts, they set everything back as it was.

After that point, Caerus was allowed to patrol the castle in search of any dangers awaiting it's residents. He was ecstatic at his new position, and he knew he was one step closer to his goal. It was a small step, but he knew it was only the beginning.
