Here comes Rodaaaaan! With his big wingspaaaaan! Here comes Rodaaan! Fly like Peter Pan! The HeritageRoda was HUGE inspiration on the design, Quetzacoatl (GtS) inspired the scale-feathers and Fire Rodan and FinalRadon played a part with the colors. Sorry, I know Rodan won the vote and it took me 22 friggin' days to draw and color the damn fire demon.

Bio:
Rodan had a rough life when he hatched in 1956, his parents were killed by both volcanic gas and magma, everyone belittled him as “just a giant bird” and hunted and attacked by both kaiju and humans when he was young. But, he was no quitter, he had a genetic quirk that his parents lacked, it allowed him to evolve and adapt to extreme heat such as lava for a couple of decades. His feathers, scales and even his eye membrane has changed to a material serving as a silicate to withstand temperatures up to 2,000 Fahrenheit, more specifically the temperature of lava. It allowed him to be protected from conventional weaponry atomic breaths, and other types of beam attacks. He evolved to the point that he absorbed the radiation of the magma and can emit an atomic breath of his own.

Godzilla’s first three opponents as King of The Monsters, all became valuable friends and allies later on. The first was Anguirus, the second was Mothra, and the third was Rodan. When the two fought, the atomic breaths had little to no effect on him, Rodan just shrugged them off. Godzilla then tried to use close-quarters combat in order to fight Rodan. Godzilla used his claws, teeth and tail while Rodan used his giant beak, teeth and talons. At one point, Rodan managed to lift Godzilla up into the air and drop him onto a power station, shocking him to his core. But, with his regeneration, he quickly recovered and had an idea so crazy that it just might work. He used his atomic breath to lift himself off the ground and fly up to Rodan.

The latter was too baffled and shocked by Godzilla’s uncanny ability to avoid the king of the monsters crashing into him. Godzilla held onto one of Rodan’s wings, preventing him keeping himself in the air and plummeting straight into the Earth below. Godzilla pinned Rodan’s chest, the One Born of Fire was waiting for his end. He lived his whole life, fighting to stay alive for reasons he didn’t really understand, surviving alone with no family or friends and the world always out to get him. He lived alone, fought alone and now he’ll die alone. He closed his eyes, accepting his end... but, it never came. Godzilla lifted his foot off of him, Rodan opened his eyes to see Godzilla and the goddess herself, Mothra, offering him help to get up to his feet. Rodan was confused, “why?”

Mothra stated that she senses that there is great potential in Rodan, but also great pain. She offered him a new life by helping and assisting Godzilla, however he can. He told him that Rodan was the only one he knew that resisted his Atomic Breath, he can be of great help in protecting the Earth. Rodan was baffled and confused with emotions, he was crying… was it of sadness or happiness? He didn’t know how to properly respond to the two’s offer, he got up on his own and flew off. Allowing nobody to see him crying his heart out.

But, when Ghidorah came in with his first attempt to overthrow Godzilla’s reign. The latter and Mothra were having a hard time, until Rodan zoomed back and crashed into Ghidorah. Turning the tide on the three headed monster, Three Heads on Three heads, three kaiju on one. Rodan repeatedly stabbed Ghidorah’s back as Godzilla tore him up while Mothra used her web spray to entangle Ghidorah’s head. Outnumbered and injured, Ghidorah returned to space. The three kaiju watched the golden hydra fly off, they all roared victoriously. After that, Rodan became Godzilla’s longtime friend and most trusted ally alongside Anguirus. He even helped take care of Godzilla Junior when he was an egg. Rodan was inseparable from Godzilla and Anguirus, he can be seen accompanying either one, and he couldn’t be any happier.
