You have used your colors here very thoughtfully, orabich. The red and gold of iron man's suit stands out very nicely against the darker, cooler hues of the ocean and sky background, as well as the jet. You also captured the metallic feel of iron man's suit very nicely. The glow of his foot thrusters really makes his arm on the left side of the image very cool looking. Also, I kind of feel that, because the glow of the sun is in front of his arm on the right side, it would make sense to have the arm on the right a little bit washed out. Still, I'm not sure it looks good visually in this context. You could probably get away with darkening and increasing the contrast on the arm on the right. It's one of those artistic license, fudgable things, I suppose.
The line work is very clean as well. The thin lines work nicely to evoke the "painterly" feeling that I think you were going for. You also did an excellent job getting everything in proportion, and the mechanical construction of the jet seems spot on as well. There are, however, some things that I'd like to ask you about.
For one thing, the jet doesn't have any thrust. It appears that you drew the back thruster, but didn't draw any sort of jet thrust coming out from it. I suppose it's possible that a jet could have no visible thrust at this altitude, but I'm not sure that was you intention.
Second, you seem to have drawn some sort of missiles at the top of the back wings on the jet, but then decided better of it. I'm talking about the rear tail fins that are pointing straight up from the jet. The one on the left has a missile, albeit not in the correct perspective, and the one of the right appears to have a rough patch blackened over, as if to cover up a mistake. If so, I agree. Jets don't really have missiles attached to those parts of the plane. You might think about just getting rid of them altogether.
Again, your colors and shadow show a very strong understanding of color theory and shading. You have very subtle blue and purple shadows on the jet, which is a very nice touch. There seems to be a gold, circular logo on the side of the jet. Alone, it doesn't matter all too much, although you might want to change it's color to have a larger contrast with Iron Man's gold plated armor parts. Again, that's not too serious, and you could go either way on it or not. It's a suggestion.
Aside from that, you might also want to try having the upwards rear tail fins overlap Iron Man's thruster arc. This would help make it seem more like Iron Man is actually flying a great distance, and suddenly just swooped in over the jet, much to the pilot's dismay. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/> As it stands, his thruster jet could be interpreted by the viewer as just a really large thruster jet, or it could also be interpreted as the flight path, extending into the distance, of Iron Man.
Having the tail fin overlap the flight path would tip the scales in favor of viewing it as his flight path, which would be much more dynamic that just have a larger thrust flame.
Overall, you put in a lot of work into this, orabich. There's lots of very nice things to look at, and it's a very well composed image. I definitely feel it merits the title of "Eye Candy", haha. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
As for your Ratings:
Vision: I never give 5 stars for fan art on either Vision or Originality. However, I always rate Vision highly if the artwork has a good composition. Yours does, so 4 stars. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
Originality: Since this is fan art, I'm going to give 3 stars. There's really not much you could have done in the image to get a higher a score in this category.
Technique: You have an excellent use of colors, and a precise understanding of perspective and the way light interacts with different materials. 5 stars.
Impact: A very solid impact. The image, I feel, does what you wish it to do, which is show the glory and awesomeness of Ironman. Excellent!
Thanks for posting this image to the site, orabich. It's very good. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
