Description The Smash Bros. series has such a Toxic and Cruel Fandom, so I will discuss many problems it has in this long list:

1. The Never Ending Hype - The fans of Smash Bros. never stop talking about it. Any time they discuss any Nintendo character, they just have to reference Smash Bros. in some way, even when it has no reason to be talked about. Certain videos and articles will also reference Smash Bros. just for the sake of it. I get really tired of seeing Smash Bros. everywhere, and it's easy to know why. Not even Mario or Legend of Zelda get this amount of attention or love. Smash Bros. is mostly just a crossover with many other Nintendo franchises, so why not play those franchise games? Throughout my time playing Smash Bros, I've noticed many notable flaws, like poor balancing for the characters (slow speed, weak attacks, poor recovery options), lots of challenges or collectibles that are frustrating if not impossible to accomplish/obtain, bland game modes, and inaccurate/weak character portrayals, which is why I stopped playing the games.

2. Super Smash Bros. Melee is the only good Smash Bros/GameCube game - Lots of fans of Super Smash Bros. Melee overly worship it, despite its fair share of issues. Some Youtubers will say that Melee is the only reason to buy a Nintendo GameCube, when there are obviously other GameCube games before and after it (Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, F-Zero GX), that are either just as good or EVEN BETTER than Melee. There's also the meme when comparing the Smash games, "It's Not Melee". So what! Melee isn't flawless.

3. Captain Falcon's "popularity" - It's a common trait for gamers to only know about F-Zero protagonist Captain Falcon because of Super Smash Bros. since the N64 game. He is considered a household name because of his annoying meme status, like the Falcon Punch, his "Yes" and "Show Me Your Moves" lines, his fire based attacks, and The Knee. The problem with this is that Falcon's portrayal in SSB is nothing like in the F-Zero series. The fact that he has superpowers in the first place is unusual, since he is a normal racer. It would make more sense for Super Arrow, a superhero, to have powers like these. Captain Falcon is also a lot more loud and aggressive in Smash Bros., which is really how other pilots like Samurai Goroh or Michael Chain would behave. It is also strange and a missed opportunity, that even though Captain Falcon carries a gun in his holster, Smash never allows him to use it for a Special Move, even though Fox, Falco, Bayonetta, and Joker all get to use their guns.

4. Surprising 3rd-Party Characters - Smash Bros. in the first two games, was originally a simple celebration of Nintendo franchises, but when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released, introduced to the series are third-party characters, who are not owned by Nintendo. The first addition of this trait is Metal Gear protagonist Solid Snake, who nobody saw coming since his games are heavily associated with the PlayStation brand, and are typically rated M, making him a very unfitting choice for a Nintendo Wii game. Snake's inclusion also opened opportunities for other unexpected character additions in later SSB games; Cloud Strife, Steve from Minecraft, Bayonetta, Tekken's Kazuya Mishima, and the weirdest addition, Kingdom Hearts' Sora, which several fans still over-obsess with. Had Snake not been added, the other third-party fighters wouldn't have been allowed to waltz into the roster for a Nintendo franchise.

5. Smash Bros. Rip-Offs - The popularity of Smash Bros. has led to a few other fighting, crossover games that play similarly to Smash, but the fans tend to angrily call these games rip-offs, even if they don't play exactly the same. These fans don't think straight sometimes.

6. Fans Want the Craziest Characters in the Roster - Ever since Snake's inclusion in Brawl, the fans have taken this chance to request the most unusual characters to be added, like Waluigi, Super Mario RPG's Geno, Shrek, Goku from Dragon Ball Z (an Anime/Manga),  Isaac from Golden Sun, and Skull kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. When the character is justifiably not included as a fighter, the fans always choose to make it a big deal out of it and mistreat and threaten poor Masahiro Sakurai, despite all he has done for Smash Bros. What makes them think those characters will be able to join the roster anyway?

7. Characters are more important in Smash - Whenever a character is added to the roster, the fans always obsess over it nonstop. There are always videos, comments and articles related to their Smash appearances, but what about their home games? It's like people just forgot about the characters' games of origin. I learned about Shulk and Xenoblade Chronicles when I played Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but I looked into the open world, RPG game, and I started to like it a lot. Shulk in his game has a few interesting traits, like his goal of getting revenge against the Mechon, his attempt to solve the mystery of the Monado, and his relationship with Fiora; Smash Bros. just makes Shulk one-dimensional and boring, and sometimes out of character. I also know of the "X for Smash" meme, wanting ANYBODY to be added, no matter what. For those who love Waluigi and adore Dixie, forget about Smash Bros. and play their home games instead. Those games give you much more to do with them.

8. Too Many Fire Emblem Characters - When the FE series was introduced in Melee, it only had Marth and the unreleased Roy, then later in Brawl, Roy was cut and Ike was newly added, so the series was light on fighters. Come Smash for 3DS/Wii U, Robin and Lucina from Awakening were newly added, and Roy returns and Corrin is another newcomer via DLC, bringing the total amount of Fire Emblem fighters up to 6. The amount got even worse when Chrom and later Byleth were announced, bringing the total up to 8 fighters, enraging the fandom heavily. This is kind of hypocritical since the Mario and Pokemon franchises have even more fighters than Fire Emblem, but the meme is also hysterical.

Do you agree that the Smash Bros. fanbase is awful?
