Have you worked with prisms?
They take forever to render but you get some interesting effects.

Yeah, that would be extremely handy if Bryce could do a transparent background, but nope this is all one render. I didn't even touch it in photoshop, even though I do like to switch hues around with that program. You can mess with opacity in photoshop, but the render comes with a background.

thank you... yes, i've resigned myself to that... the only workaround seems to be to render with a simple, plain colour background and then delete it in Photoshop. I've also just been reading up on Bryce Masks which might also be a useful tool... see here if interested [link]
