Description This was for my Y adventure blog ( jennifer-y-adventure.tumblr.co… ) but I may as well post it here too.

So this is what my team turned out to look like! (plus the little quirks in their appearance that I like to imagine ahahaha...)
Erm, so!

Jade | Delphox | Female
Quirky nature, Good perseverance
Okay seriously who didn't see that one coming. Anyway yeah I'm one of the noobies that got Fennekin, suck it.
In all seriousness though, there's just too many things about Fennekin that made me NEED IT ON MY TEAM. So I was born in the Year of the Dog, right? Didjya know that the Fire-type starters are all based on animals in the Chinese Zodiac? Yeah, Charmander's the Dragon, Cyndaquil is the Rat, Torchic is the Rooster, Chimchar is the Monkey, Tepig is the Boar, and Fennekin is representing the Dog this time around. Not only that, but I barely EVER get a Fire starter, so this was a new experience for me. I was stuck between Chespin and Fennekin for a while, but once the witch theme was revealed, the deal was sealed. There was absolutely no question. Not JUST because of Homestuck (furry canine witch pokemon pls), I just have an affinity to so many different witches in fiction... A good example? Wicked. You don't understand how much I actually love Wicked.
So by the time the game came around, I decided that I wanted a female Fennekin with a Quirky nature (*coughbecausethemspawikisaysthatjadeharleyhasaquirkypersonalitycough*) but I would have gone with anything that wasn't detrimental. BUT THE FIRST FEMALE FENNEKIN I GOT WAS QUIRKY QUE GO GALAZOO *churns butter very quickly*
But yeah in-game I imagine my sweet Delphox to be optimistic and cheerful most of the time, but willing to hold her all for her beloved Trainer, no matter what. That includes solitude for any emotional pain. She was diagnosed with nearsightedness when they arrived in the first Pokemon Center they came to, though, and is still getting used to the fact that she has glasses and can actually see. So she fangasms whenever she sees someone else with glasses, just like the little puppy she is. Her ear fluff was also a bit thicker than what Delphox usually have, so it doesn't exactly defy gravity. Her eyes are also bright green rather than the usual scarlet/orange/amber.

Leiloxe | Venusaur | Male
Docile nature, Quick to flee
I was actually kind of happy when I made a solid decision to get Fennekin and Bulbasaur, since it would cover a few weak spots for Fennekin, and the Poison subtype FINALLY gets a bit more use in this generation. ...Plus since I didn't get Chespin, I could cover up that insecurity of not having a Grass-type starter. Honestly I'm so naked without one...
Either way, I imagine Leiloxe to be laid-back, somewhat on the quiet side, but not shy in the slightest. He usually takes his own pace with things, and stands his ground pretty well, but WILL complain and ask to be called back if the situation becomes too much to handle. That usually isn't a problem when he Mega Evolves, though. He also loves the sound of the ocean, and it will usually lull him to sleep. His back flower's color is lighter than that of usual Venusaur, though it has a darker gradient towards the center.
The name Leiloxe doesn't mean anything in particular, I sometimes just make up names by mashing a bunch of random syllables together. Like I once named an Empoleon Iscelephe (ICE-ul-ef-ee).

Neiru | Aurorus | Female
Brave nature, Alert to sounds
So I like both of the new fossils quite a lot. I just like the Ice-type one more. I WILL get a chance to try out a Tyranium for myself sometime though, since I'm planning on raising one for a competitive team. I already have a Tyrunt to breed, too, so... Yeah.
So Neiru. An alternative summary characteristic for her would be 'somewhat vain.' She's really full of herself sometimes, and is a bit needy. She'll beg for attention whenever she wants it. Her Trainer isn't the biggest fan of the cold, though, so she will barely ever get her ice crystals touched. She's loyal, however, and will get angry whenever someone insults anyone she holds dear, and will possibly even attack in retaliation. Her senses are usually perked up so she can catch these insults when they happen. She doesn't care what opponent she's up against and is just happy whenever she can be sent out to spar. She's lacking the white triangle under her eye that Aurorus usually have as a species, and her chest and neck have dappled edges. Her crystals also tend to reflect purple.

Bing | Lanturn | Male
Naive nature, Somewhat stubborn
Do you understand how much I actually love Lanturn. I don't care one bit that they're not too great competitively, they're literally my favorite fish-like Pokemon hands-down. I was also having trouble finding a Water-type for my team... When I found that Chinchou and Lanturn were part of the regional Pokedex I lit up like their antennae. Plus, I wasn't planning on having an Electric-type on my final team, but having a Lanturn made me able to do so~
In-game, I imagine Bing to be a little... dimmer (no pun intended). He's really happy-go-lucky, and cuddly would be a good word for him, but he's really kind of... No, not stupid, just a little... Unaware? He doesn't pay attention to his surroundings, and he doesn't take orders very seriously, but at least he's optimistic. He usually likes to do things his own way, even if it's not the right way, but he'll usually use the move that his Trainer tells him to use. He doesn't hit very hard, but he doesn't care - he's just happy he was able to land a hit at all. He has a couple of yellow spots on his tail on the gradient where it's supposed to transition to blue, and he also has a couple dots of yellow beside the right side of his 'mask.' (Not a good picture to show that, so here's a better one media.tumblr.com/690f896560f3d… )

Penelope | Goodra | Female
Serious nature, Likes to run
Okay but her inputted name is Pinelope because the Pokemon Company decided to take the name censoring thing a bit too seriously this time around. Either way, I was originally planning on raising a Noivern as my team's designated Flying-type, but that plan fell right through the floor when Goodra was revealed. It's a big, floppy, kawaii teddy bear dragon omg. And IT PACKS A PUNCH, HOLY CRAP.
Even so, Penelope doesn't act like a big teddy bear. She likes to distance herself from others, and she's not very sociable. Her peers don't take her very seriously, though, because of how cute and cuddly she looks. She's quick to retaliate, though, as if to say 'SHUT UP, I'M NOT CUTE.' The standard base stats for Goodra say that their Special Attack should be stronger than their Attack, but that's not the case with Penelope. She actually has a higher Attack stat than Special Attack, and she tends to go a bit ballistic when she uses Outrage. Power Whip is another one of her favorite moves. (I don't take her 'Likes to run' characteristic seriously when I imagine her character, I imagine 'Likes to thrash about' would be better-suited...) When someone dares try to insult her with the mention of Fairies, they'll be rewarded with a well-deserved Sludge Bomb. When her Trainer found her as a Goomy, it was hard for either of them to take the other seriously, 'cuz the whole 'Dragon-type' thing was a bit hard to swallow, and Penelope didn't exactly take her cutesy given name to heart at first. It was hard for the two of them to make a solid bond, due to complications on how to treat such an environmentally sensitive Pokemon, but Penelope finally accepted and started to enjoy her new life, and showed it when she held on to land the final blow on Lysandre's Mega Gyarados when she SHOULD have fainted. She's lightened up a little since, but is still a little antisocial, and can't stand Neiru's personality. She'll have her moments to show her gratitude towards her Trainer, and maybe even crack a smile when something relatively nice happens (like when they beat the E4). Unlike usual Goodra, she only has one green spot on her cheek rather than two. Additionally, her back tendrils tend to hang downward rather than flowing behind her - they're heavier than that of usual Goodra, which may have been one of the assets to add to her increased Attack stat. She flails her tendrils when she uses Power Whip (she really does), and trashes EVERYWHERE when using Outrage...
she's also a lesbian

Simon | Honchkrow | Male
Hardy nature, Nods off a lot
When the Noivern plan fell through the floor, I took a bit of a frantic scramble to find my team's Flying-type... But I love the Murkrow line a lot. I raised one in Pearl, and he SWEEPED Lucian quickly and cleanly, so why not have another go? Oh, and I was a bit surprised to find that Murkrow were hoarde Pokemon, and a bit disappointed that I would have to take more time to raise him up to meet up with the rest of the team, but get this. I had NO idea that hoardes have a single member with the DW Ability hidden somewhere in the group, and I just so happened to pluck that very one from the group from sheer, dumb luck. I was so confused when I looked Simon over to find that he had Prankster, but I got its uses out of it. Tailwind was nice while it lasted. I also used him in a competitive fight with a mono-Fairy team, and using Foul Play on a Mega Mawile was a huge asset in helping to finally take that dumb thing down. I surprised a LOT of people with this guy as a Murkrow, seriously. He took out Lysandre's Honchrow in one hit. ...AS A MURKROW. And somebody yelled out "WHAT" when they watched him OHKO a Pangoro. I s2g I had the greatest Murkrow ever, AND HIS ABILITY CHANGED TO FREAKING MOXIE WHEN HE EVOLVED I NEARLY SCREAMED I WAS SO HAPPY. No more Tailwind, tho. :c
Anyway, when Simon was caught he really had a bit of a hive mind. His body was built to last, and he had no other thoughts than to do his best for a group. He usually naps inbetween when he has to work and when he has to put forth effort (he also dreams in black and white). He's still getting used to having a family that will love him and cheer him on, but he appreciates the gesture. He's even starting to get a little cuddly. He felt really unworthy when he was being raised to such a high level, and it felt like a true honor when his Trainer allowed him to evolve into a Honchkrow (though he accidentally found the Dusk Stone in her bag when she had her back turned, but she didn't hold anything against him when he did - he really deserved it). In the wild he wasn't raised to think he would ever reach a higher status than a mere minion, and he takes his time to think about what he did to deserve all this special treatment he's getting. He loves his new family all the same, but he's not usually sure how to express it. He doesn't have any unique physical traits to note, but when he was a Murkrow he didn't have the usual ruffles on his neck.

Whew! Yeah, I grew a bit fond of this team, so I imagined a bit more complicated characters for my Pokemon than per usual... I'm happy that I did, though, it adds so much depth to the way I play and my thought processes. :3

Pokemon is (c) to the Pokemon Company.

Thinking of using Honchkrow in a future run of X. What did you do to train Simon?

For a regular journey, you can just do whatever, really. You don't even really have to wait to evolve your Murkrow, you can pretty much Dusk Stone it right away, seeing as all the better attacking moves are available almost right away. Honchkrow has a bunch of awesome moves you can get from a Move Tutor, but it also starts learning moves at level 25 and Murkrow are only available in hordes on routes 15 and 16, so they're going to be low-leveled to start anyway. If you want something that can utilize Prankster, however, you should probably keep your Murkrow unevolved so it can learn some status moves; just keep in mind that its ability will change to moxie upon evolving.

When I was working on Simon, X and Y had only just come out, so our knowledge about the game was slim at best. So I kept him unevolved until the end of Victory Road just to try to avoid missing out on any moves I would've liked for him to learn as a Honchkrow. I was most looking forward to Night Slash, but I didn't realize that he wouldn't have been able to learn it as a Murkrow anyway, and seeing as he was in the 70's of levels I was starting to get worried.
Oops.

tl;dr, if you want status moves, keep it a Murkrow for a while, if you want attacking moves, evolve into Honchkrow as soon as you catch it

Competitive is a different story entirely cough

...I meant more in the way of leveling up a level-18 Pokemon in a part of the game where your levels are low-40s at least.

Oh, I'm sorry! ^^' Before you beat the game there isn't exactly a fast way to do it, so...
What I did personally was I went back to older routes so that he could at least battle himself to gain experience, but the best thing to do is just stay on the route south of Laverre City to train him up. A lot of Pokemon in the route you catch Murkrow could have Pursuit, so you'd have to train him up until he could take one (or a couple) of those. Then switch to the newer route to train. Hopefully you'd already have the Lucky Egg from Coumarine City by now, so hopefully that would speed up the process.

Lanturns are my absolute favorite fish Pokemon ever, too.  Mine served me quite well through Seibold and Malva, and even Drasna.

My Lanturn eats right through Seibold and Malva omg (but I send out my Aurorus against Seibold's Gyarados because of Freeze Dry. because i can. and because it's a good laugh. an ice-type move that's x4 super effective against gyarados? please). What'd you put on it for Drasna? O_o I dunno about you, but I taught my Lanturn Dazzling Gleam...

I ran Lanturn as a tank (Aqua Ring + Leftovers + defensive EVs), it definitely outtanked Dragalge.  Then there was Noivern and Altaria, both part Flying, so I stuck with the tried-and-true Ice Beam.  Even froze one of them solid.

That blog was a great idea, really. A lot of people are doing something similar, whether it includes music, art, writing, or just random outbursts on something that just happened in their game, like taking pictures of their DSs... Either way, it made me really imagine what was going on and what my Pokemon's reactions would be according to the events... I fell in love with my Pokemon as characters, gosh. X3 Yeah, you should try developing your Pokemon around what their natures are, it's really fun to imagine~ : D

That´s from my dear Venusaur. He´s disliking psysical combat and prefeers to attack enemies from teh distance. Sleep-Power is VERY helpful too, that´s why he also approves alot my strategy to sleep Pokemon before being caught..mostly without hurting as well too.

That´s amazing how well thsiw orks out.

My Greninja is Hasty and somehow vain.

She´s taking orders super-serious like a true Ninja. But because her defense isn´t the best, she likes to claim victory as swift as possible. Like assasins should doo. Hur hur.

She also cares alot that her "tounge" shall have the correct seat...like a lil´Japanese-french lady. XDD

My Pyroar is rash and like to relax.

I´ve imagined that he´s a typical luxery-loving lion. "living" in the Luxery ball was for him and me a MUST HAVE. He dislikes water and LOATH dirty water (water, ground and rock combined together is a bare disaster for his pretty mane)

He also still the first Pokemon who refuse dto get KOed that´s really heart touching. *sniff*

My Salamance is also Hasty and Impetuous and silly.

She´s a good girl for sure. But gets easily taunted and than she´s super-mad for sure.

Especially when facing fairy types. She loath these creatures, becuase she beleives that tehy´re only looking cute and harmless, but deep inside they´re quite the opposite.

My Duokles is brave and likes to thrash about. That´s the brute pysical fighter. And he´s also very proud and a daring challenger. But he also has an honourful loyal streak towards the trainer (me.) XD

Than finally Diggeryby who´s Timid and quicks to flee.

Not being the "prettiest" flower in the garden, she´s really concerned about this.

It´s my loyal HM-servant and she also taught me to lay down the mean term "HM-slave" That big rabbit is gold-worth, since she´s a grea tresure hunter when using smash. She has a fine nose for pearls and other gem-like stuff.

That´s mah Pokemon team and I´m also almost done with my drawing.
