"You missed."

Annatar let out a slightly breathless laugh as she danced back out of the way of her son's brandished horns. Shaking her head, the dark doe smirked and met the buck's narrowed eyes with her own thinned gaze. "Again. With feeling."

This time, Aratar's attack was faster and more unchecked as he firmly pushed aside his instinctive wish to refrain from hurting his mother. This time, the blow connected, and Annatar's smile this time was wider and prouder as first blood was drawn. "Very good." She praised softly before her eyes sharpened and she flung herself back at her son's tensed form. This time, the two didn't hold back in their makeshift battle, throwing out every trick they could to try and best the other.

Annatar bit back a cry as she was battered backwards by a swing of the buck's rack, however she couldn't help but smile slightly wryly. Oh, but Aratar had clearly gotten far too used to fighting with other bucks and stags -- he seemed to have forgotten that his rack was not his only weapon.

Swinging her hindside around her son's lowered head, she struck out with her hindlegs and caught Aratar with a kick to the shoulder, applying just enough force to shove the surprised buck off his feet without leaving any serious damage. As the young male shook his head and clambered to his feet with a grimace, Annatar shifted her stance and waited for the next attack.

Once again, the two fell back into their fighting dance, parrying back and forth and trying to push the advantage wherever they found one. Annatar noted approvingly that her son's attacks were strong and clever, with none of the silly posturing and unnecessary flair some young bucks tried to use, however it became clear that he still needed some help controlling his emotions. As Aratar grew more frustrated over the course of their sparring session, he steadily began to grow sloppier and less precise in his movements.

Frowning in disapproval, Annatar threw herself forwards and pushed herself under her opponent's head and into his chest, shoving him backwards and down to the ground once again. This time, however, she didn't wait to allow him to regain his feet; instead, she pressed forward and stepped firmly down on the flat of his neck, meeting his shocked gaze with her own calm one.

"You must be more careful to control yourself, Aratar. Had this been a real fight, you would have been taken down by your own irritation several rounds ago." Annatar said, frowning. Stepping back carefully so that she didn't leave a mark on her son's neck, she waited for him to clamber back to his feet once more, allowing him to shake some dust off before she swung her tail lazily, like a cave lion. "Again. Control your emotions, Aratar. Don't allow them to control you."

The dark buck inclined his head slightly in silent acknowledgement of his mother's words before he planted his hooves squarely apart for balance, meeting the older doe's gaze squarely before he lowered his rack in challenge, this time waiting for his mother to make the first move.

With a sharp smile, Annatar obliged.
