Methane gas and flames. Autobots were learning from Spike that human gas was just as flammable as what comes out of their own afterburners.. Sh*t happened. Hehe Anyways, I really like how he is posed, he looks so calm in a situation that is dangerous; that's our good ol' Ironhide!

Thank you. Yes, I poured lots of time and attention in the background. It's easy to spend as much or more time on the background than the character.

Oooh, yay! It's always nice to see Ironhide getting some love. As always, your eye for detail really comes out in your work; I especially like the explosion effects, and in particular, Ironhide's windshield. The reflections and translucence really come out; I wish I could figure out how to do that myself. XD

I'm still learning but am pleased with the way that the light effects came out here. It's all about layers.
